Cats In Love
Cats In Love - an unlikely name for an unlikely bunch of musicians. But like all things unlikely, there remains a sense of familiarity. The trio plays a brand of rock not unlike the classic rock genre of the 1960s and 1970s, with an air of sophistication that's decidedly modern. No, there are no world domination plans, and neither is the band setting out to reinvent the wheel, but if it's a rocking good time that's being sought, these boys know just what to do.
ROLLIN’ SIXERS
ROLLIN’ SIXERS are Eddy Lim attempting vocals and blues harp, Khairil M Bahar and Henry Tan strumming on six-strings, Jay Kughan on bass ‘cos he wasn’t allowed to play a six-string and Ian Stewart on drums and percussion.
The band wishes for 2 things: that the smoke-filled, booze-soaked juke joints of old America exist in 21st century KL; and that they’re black.

His voice on guitar is laconic and softly spoken as the man himself, who favors short sweet phrases, dense chordal modulations, and an occasional yearning guitar solo. His tone is rich yet unadorned, the warm melodic sound of an unaffected guitar. In his own words, Xiong is a disciple of Miles “less is more” Davis. The music is mostly meditative, thoughtful and romantic.

James Flynn possesses flawless intonation, a fine sense of rhythmic swing and an uncanny interpretation of the lyric. From the point of view of solely recording, this would be sufficient but in a live setting he brings much more. Flynn engages his audience - he has the talent to communicate. It was here that Junji became infused with jazz – its melancholy yet exuberant love of life, its scatty sense of humour, its love of playful improvisation while remaining true to achingly beautiful melodies, its sudden switches from madcap to melancholy. All this can be found in the way Junji sings. Her voice teases you with its humour and moves you with its tenderness. And this is what makes Junji a true jazz singer.
A Tribute to Jaco Pastorius
